I am directed by the Marquess of Salisbury to
acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29th
ultimo, 13764, inclosing correspondence respecting
the departure from Hongkong for Manila of General
Aguinaldo, and certain other Spanish Rebel leaders,
in the United States Warship "Hugh McCalloch".
Lord Salisbury concurs in Mr. Secretary Chamber-
lain's proposal to acknowledge the receipt of Major
General Black's Despatch, without any expression of
opinion as to the action of the Colonial Government.
The map which accompanied your letter is herewith
returned as requested.
